Gillingham Street Angels is a grassroots charity, founded in 2018, dedicated to supporting homeless and vulnerable people across the Medway towns and surrounding areas. Our mission is simple: to provide practical help, emotional support, and hope to anyone in need – regardless of their background or circumstances.
From Food Poverty to Holistic Community Support
What began as a local food poverty charity has grown into a holistic community service that reaches far beyond homelessness. Today, we support not only the homeless and vulnerable, but anyone facing hardship in Medway who may need our help.
Essential Support When It’s Needed Most
We provide essentials that many of us take for granted, including food, basic kitchen supplies, clothing, and hygiene products. Through our Foodbank and hot meal initiatives, we provide free food to over 15,000 people every year.
But we offer more than just food. Our Foodbank is also a welcoming, safe space where people can access encouragement, build self-esteem, improve health and wellbeing, and find new opportunities to enhance their life chances. We are passionate about promoting healthier lifestyle choices, tackling food poverty, and raising awareness around homelessness across Medway.
Creating a Supportive & Inclusive Community
Our goal is to make community activities and wellbeing support as easy and stress-free as possible to access. Everything we do is rooted in compassion, inclusivity, equality, and diversity. With a hands-on approach, our team ensures that every person we meet feels valued and supported.
Reducing Waste & Protecting the Environment
At Gillingham Street Angels, we also care deeply about the environment. In partnership with Norse & Medway, we work to reduce food waste and landfill by collecting unused items from local recycling points and giving them a second life. This not only supports sustainability but also provides additional resources to those who need them most.

Our Mission
At Gillingham Street Angels, our mission is to support the homeless, vulnerable, and those facing hardship across Medway. Founded in 2018 as a grassroots charity responding to the rise in street homelessness, we have grown into a trusted community organisation with a holistic approach to care.
Through our Medway foodbank, hot meal initiatives, and essential support services, we provide practical help and compassion to anyone in need – regardless of background, circumstance, or walk of life. Our non-judgemental approach ensures that every person we meet is treated with dignity, respect, and kindness.

Our vision is to continue building strong local partnerships that allow us to expand our reach and impact. By collaborating with community groups, businesses, and local authorities, we strive to provide practical support, encouragement, and opportunities that help people improve their circumstances, build confidence, and increase their life chances. Together, we aim to create stronger, healthier, and more resilient communities across Medway.
Our aim is to listen to and work alongside our community to provide meaningful help and support for anyone in need. We do this through a wide range of initiatives, including our free school uniform bank, Medway foodbank, hot meal programmes, charity shops, recycling projects, and inclusive volunteering opportunities. We also offer a variety of free health and wellbeing services, ensuring that support is accessible to all.
